CBAP Application

Online CBAP Application v2.0 Now Available

Effective June 1, 2009, the Online CBAP® Application has been updated to reflect the new version 2.0 of the Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK®). This change effects the online application – as of June 1, all new CBAP® applicants will be directed to version 2.0 of the application. The paper-based application will be updated from v1.6 to v2.0 by mid-August.

Note: All CBAP® applicants who started working on v1.6 of their online application (i.e. prior to June 1 when v2.0 launched) but have not yet submitted their applications to IIBA® were notified recently by email that on September 4th, their online applications will be deleted from our system. As a result, applicants were given the following options:

1. To submit their v1.6 online applications by end of day September 3, 2009.

2. To print off a copy of their existing online application and start a new online application which will automatically be based on v2.0.

As of August 1, the CBAP® exam has been updated to be aligned with v2.0 of the BABOK Guide which is the reason for phasing out v1.6 of the online application.

At the moment, there is no time limit for CBAP® applicants to submit v2.0 online applications.

With the online application, you can complete the application over several sessions, saving your changes each time until you officially submit the application.

Instructions for completing the online application are provided throughout the process. However, if you have any questions not addressed in the online application or in the CBAP® CBAP®Handbook (pdf), you can email certification@theiiba.org.

The online application offers many benefits that will make submitting your application faster, easier and more convenient:

  • Complete the application online rather than on paper.
  • Pay the application fee online by credit card.
  • Submit references online – references are notified by email when you enter their name and email address into your application. Once the reference has completed and submitted their online forms, you receive an email confirmation.
  • No more costs associated with printing, copying and shipping a paper application package.
  • A more secure method of submitting your application rather than relying on the mail.
  • Shorter turnaround time for results – now only 21 business days compared to 30 business days.
  • Ability to complete the application over multiple sessions – your updates can be saved online until you officially submit your application.

CBAP Application — Paper-based Format - Updated to BABOK v2.0

If you prefer to complete the Certified Business Analysis Professional™ (CBAP®) application on paper rather than online, you will be required to fill out the forms listed below. The application and reference forms have been recently updated to align with BABOK v2.0 and are now available. Simply select each form to download it from the IIBA® website.
